Update: We totally won the Audience Award in Austin!

FOLKS! Especially the fine folks of Austin! The World Premiere of The Muslims Are Coming! will be at the Austin Film Festival on Oct. 19 with an second screening on Oct. 21. We’re so thrilled, nervous, worried, excited, and nervous again! But we really want you to come – if you’re within any kind of reasonable (or unreasonable) distance from Austin, TX, please come and join us! You can buy tickets at the door and if you would you like to buy group tickets in advance, we, the filmmakers, can arrange that for you through some special magic so hit us up on the old timey email. But for the rest of you, if you’re a badge holder, well you can just walk right on in, if you’re not, you can get individual tickets at the door for the cut-rate price of $9 – you get a bunchload of adorable Muslims for that price. It can’t be beat!

The Muslims are Coming! is done touring (for the moment at least). We’re back in NYC and we’re deep in post-production on the moooovie! We here in the offices of Vaguely Qualified Productions would like to acknowledge that turning 300 hours of footage of Muslim-American comedians being ridiculous around the country into one succinct 85 minute feature film is what they call “DIFFICULT.” But we’re doing it! We can’t be stopped! And by the time we’re done, this country is gonna love the pants out of the Muzzies. That’s a promise.

The movie follows the standup comedy tours we’ve done around the country but we’ve also been dealing with the issues! Which means we’ve also been shooting interviews with people who are smarter than us. Experts like Soledad O’Brian from CNN, Cenk Uygur from the Young Turks, Ali Velshi from CNN, Assif Mandvi from the Daily Show, and standup comics like Colin Quinn and Lewis Black. So this movie is gonna be a Muslim/Jewish/Black/Latino/Journalist/Miscellaneous smorgasbord of diversity.
